Who Can Apply? (Eligibility Conditions)

  • Applicant must be studying at an Indian institute to apply for the NGSF Internship.
  • Eligible categories include 2nd year of a 3-year UG program, 2nd or 3rd year of a 4-year UG program, 1st year of a 2-year PG course and 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of a 5-year integrated course.
  • The applicant must be interested in pursuing research in Life Sciences to apply.
  • Remote internships are allowed only for Computational Biology.

How to Apply for the NGSF Internship

Step1 > Secure a mentor by contacting a Principal Investigator or Professor willing to host you in their lab at an institute other than your own and read the detailed guidelines available on the NGSF website to understand project requirements and evaluation criteria.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. Does the NGSF directly offer research positions?

Ans. No the foundation does not assign research labs. Students must independently secure a position under a professor or PI at an Indian institute outside their own.

2. Can I opt for a remote internship?

Ans. Yes, remote internships are allowed but only for Computational Biology. The number of remote interns is limited to around 20% of the overall cohort.

3. What is the duration of the internship?

Ans. The research internship must last either 56 days (2 months) or 84 days (3 months) depending on the student’s availability and project requirement.
